Voting

Each registered member who is current with their contributions will vote (by ballot) for one of the selected organizations during her attendance at the quarterly meetings. There is no proxy voting. Ties will be decided by further votes. If a tie persists, the membership will vote to randomly select one of the tied organizations by draw. Winning charities are eligible to re-enter the draw every 3 years for consideration.

All members write their $100 cheques to the winning charity. As a committed member, we ask that you support the charity that wins, even if you personally voted for another charity.

Eligible Charity Policy

For a charity to be eligible, the member who provided the nomination must be in attendance. The only exception is if an alternate member has been listed on the nomination form and they are present at the meeting.

If a member or the member delegate is not in attendance, then the nomination form will be put back in the basket for the next meeting and another form will be pulled.

We really want to give each of the charities the best opportunity possible, and as we have seen, it makes a huge difference if the member is at the meeting to passionately speak about their charity.

After a charity has been picked three times and has not been chosen as a winner by our membership it will be placed on hold for 2 years from the last time picked in order to give other charities a chance to speak. We hope those members will nominate another charity.
